The Church's History
Since 1936 the Pentecostal church in Dupo, Illinois has been known as the Dupo Pentecostal Church, First Pentecostal Faith Tabernacle, First Pentecostal Church, The Pentecostals of Dupo, and most recently, the Apostolic Worship Center. It has been distinctively Pentecostal as described in the book of the ACTS of the Apostles in the Bible. Members practice living a Christian lifestyle taught by the Lord Jesus Christ. The doctrine of the church is Apostolic, as taught by the apostles of Holy Scripture.
Since 1953 it has been affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International in St. Louis, MO. Its Christian school (St. Clair Christian Academy) began in 1977 using the technology and procedures of the Accelerated Christian Education Inc of Lewisville, TX (Seminole, FL). Today the K-12 school is known as the Apostolic Learning Academy and is located where the former public Dupo Grade School was, at 400 Louisa Avenue. Both the church and school are at this new location. Pastor Daniel & Nilah Batchelor
The Batchelors moved to Delightful Dupo in January of 1979 to begin serving the congregation as a full-time youth pastor. After assisting Pastor Daniel L. Segraves for 3 1/2 years, they became pastor in August of 1982. Their four children, Anthony David, Aaron Daniel, Andrea Dawn, and Andrew Derek, have been raised in Dupo and have experienced the baptism of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues. |
